Our beer varieties
Munich and beer are inseparable - and a main reason why both are known around the world. That is why we are especially proud to offer our guests a large variety of traditional beers. This is one of the things that makes our beergarden in Munich distinctive.
We offer our guests a broad, hand-picked spectrum of delicious beers. First and foremost of course, is the popular Augustiner beer, which is a specialty beer brewed according to the high-quality standards and stringent specifications of the Purity laws daring back to 1516. As a result of maintaining these standards and close attention to proper storage temperatures, this delicately tangy and full-bodied lager is one of the most cultivated beers in Munich.
Even king Ludwig used to supply his stag ( Hirsch)- hunting parties with 200 liters of beer. That's why even today, the colloquial term "Hirschen " refers to the 200 liter wooden casks used to store the brew.
The Augustiner Brewery is the only brewery in the city that has continued to deliver wooden casks of beer to the present time.
During the beergarden-season our guests can marvel at the daily ritual of the tapping of our 15 l, 30l, 50l and 200l wooden beer casks.. We also offer Kaltenberger Brewery beers with their King Ludwig brands -the royal refreshment for every taste - as well as beers from the Tegernsee Ducal Breweries at our Hirschgarten beer garden.
